Privacy and Data Rights

SourceScout respects user privacy and data rights in accordance with applicable privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA, and COPPA. We do not collect data from users under 13 years of age.

3.1 Information You Provide to Us

We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us when you:

Register for an account (email address, password)
Use the Service (search queries, filter preferences, saved sellers)
Subscribe to a paid plan (billing information processed by Stripe)
Connect Telegram notifications (Telegram chat ID, username, notification preferences)
Configure notification settings (custom keywords, notification triggers)
Contact us for support (name, email, message content)
Provide feedback or participate in surveys

3.2 Information Automatically Collected

When you access the Service, we automatically collect certain information, including:

Log data (IP address, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, time and date of visit)

3.3 Information from Third Parties

We collect publicly available information from eBay via the official eBay Browse API to provide the Service. This information is aggregated and displayed to you within the Service. We do not collect any private or non-public data from eBay. eBay data is obtained through eBay's official API in compliance with their API License Agreement.

5. How We Share Your Information

5.1 Service Providers

We may share your information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including:

Supabase - Authentication and database hosting
Stripe - Payment processing
eBay - Listing data via the official eBay Browse API. We only retrieve publicly available listing information; no personal user data is shared with eBay.
Telegram - Push notification delivery via our bot (@sourcescout_bot). If you connect Telegram, we store your Telegram chat ID and username to enable notifications. You can disconnect Telegram at any time from your account settings.
AI Analysis Tools (Administrative Use Only) - OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude are used exclusively by internal administrators for evaluating eBay listings during a private testing phase. These services analyze publicly available listing data (titles, prices, descriptions, images) from eBay, NOT user account data. These service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us and to protect your information.

5.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to:

Valid legal processes (subpoenas, court orders)

Protection of our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or the public

5.3 Business Transfers

If SourceScout is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service. We may retain certain information after you close your account if necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or as otherwise permitted by law.

6.1 User Data Retention

We retain your account information, search configurations, filter settings, saved sellers, and preferences for as long as your account is active. After you cancel your subscription or delete your account, this data is retained for 90 days to allow you to reactivate your account. After 90 days, your personal data may be permanently deleted, though we may retain anonymized usage data for analytical purposes.

6.2 eBay Listing Data

eBay Data Compliance: eBay listing data retrieved via the eBay Browse API is used in real-time to provide search results. We do not permanently store eBay listing data beyond what is necessary to deliver the Service. Listing data is refreshed frequently to ensure accuracy. We do not store seller contact information, customer data, or any non-public eBay data.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

Encryption of data in transit and at rest
Regular security assessments and audits
Access controls and authentication requirements
Secure password hashing
Regular backups and disaster recovery procedures

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Privacy Rights

8.1 Access and Portability

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to receive a copy of your data in a portable format.

8.2 Correction and Update

You can update or correct your account information at any time by logging into your account settings.

8.3 Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your personal information. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings, or contact us at support@sourcescoutapp.com to request deletion.

8.4 Opt-Out of Communications

You can opt out of promotional emails by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any promotional email or by adjusting your notification preferences in your account settings.

8.5 Do Not Track

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature. Our Service does not currently respond to DNT signals.
